About Mr. Francis Kigen

Francis Kigen is a highly experienced aviation professional currently serving as a Principal UAS Inspector at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA). He began his aviation career as an Aeronautical Information Officer before transitioning into Air Traffic Control, where he rose to a senior level and obtained three operational ratings in Aerodrome Control, Approach Procedural Control, and Approach Radar Control.
 
In addition to his extensive air navigation services experience, Francis is also a trained Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) holder for fixed-wing aircraft, bringing both operational and regulatory perspectives to the aviation industry.
 
He currently plays a key role in the oversight and regulation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in Kenya and is actively involved in UAS safety, compliance, training, and industry engagement. Francis also serves as a certified UAS Instructor and Examiner, contributing to the development of professional standards and capacity building within the drone sector.
 
With a unique blend of expertise in air traffic management, piloting, aviation safety, and UAS regulation, Francis brings valuable insight into the integration of emerging aviation technologies within modern airspace systems
